CEREC One-Visit Crowns

CEREC One-Visit Crowns

Using conventional dental treatment methods, placement of a crown ("cap") requires two visits to the dentist's office.  At the first visit, local anesthesia ("novocaine") is administered, the tooth is prepared, an impression is made of the tooth and a temporary crown is fabricated and cemented on the tooth. Another appointment is made 2-3 weeks later.  The dentist administers novocaine again, removes the temporary crown and cements the permanent crown on the tooth.

With CEREC® 3D, this procedure is done in one visit, start to finish.  CEREC crowns are milled in our office while you wait, using the latest in CAD-CAM technology.  CEREC crowns are made of strong, tooth-colored ceramic material.  The material closely matches the composition of natural tooth structure.  Therefore, when you drink something cold or hot, the ceramic material and your tooth structure expand and contract at almost the same rate.  This minimizes the chances that your tooth will fracture and actually helps to strengthen the tooth. We use the most advanced dental adhesive systems to chemically bond the restoration to your tooth.

CEREC can also be used to fabricate several other types of restorations, including inlays, onlays and veneers.
